As a [qualified Close Protection Officer (CPO)](https://bluemountaingroup.co.uk/close-protection-courses/), you will have a range of career opportunities available to you. The primary role of a CPO is to provide security and protection to clients, which may include high-profile individuals, executives, celebrities, politicians, and others who require personal protection. Here are some potential career paths for a newly qualified CPO:
Private Security Companies:
There are many private security companies that specialise in providing Close Protection services to clients. These companies hire CPOs on a regular basis and are always looking for qualified individuals to join their teams. You could work for a large global security company or a smaller boutique firm that provides specialised services.
Corporate Security:
Many large corporations have their own in-house security teams, which may include CPOs. If you have experience in corporate security, you may be able to find a position within a corporation's security department.
Government Agencies:
Government agencies, such as the Secret Service, State Department, or other federal agencies, often employ CPOs to protect high-level officials and dignitaries. These positions can be highly competitive and require significant experience and training, but they can also be very rewarding.
Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs):
NGOs that operate in areas of conflict or high-risk environments often require Close Protection services for their staff members. Working for an NGO can be a very fulfilling experience, as you will be helping to protect individuals who are working to make a positive difference in the world.
Freelance Work:
As a qualified CPO, you can also choose to work on a freelance basis. This can give you more flexibility in terms of the clients you work with and the locations where you work. However, freelance work can be more challenging as you need to build your own client base and negotiate your own contracts.
In addition to these career paths, there are also opportunities for CPOs to specialise in areas such as [cyber security](https://bluemountaingroup.co.uk/advisory-services/#cyber-security), [surveillance](https://bluemountaingroup.co.uk/advisory-services/#spec-invest), risk assessment, and more. With the right training and experience, you can carve out a successful and rewarding career as a Close Protection Officer.
